There weren’t really any record book entries we could find, but a bunch of stat standouts as we head towards the home stretch of the baseball and softball season. These weekly highlights support growth of the Cal-Hi Sports State Record Book & Almanac.
CIF Southern Section teams Mater Dei (D1), Mission Viejo (D2) and Burbank (D3) are joined as top-ranked teams in the state this week by Wheatland (D4) of the CIF Northern Section and unbeaten Redwood Christian (D5) of the CIF North Coast Section.
California of San Ramon surges up to No. 17 as state’s lone newcomer this week. Unbeaten Archbishop Mitty also gets a bump into the top five. The rest of the top group, however, is dominated by Orange County.
One SoCal baseball player and a NorCal softball standout join the 30,000 or so names in our record book files. Mitty baseball coach and Corona softball coach reach 600-win mark as well.
